The refurbishment of Maidstone Bus Station came in at just under £1.5m. The bus station has been opened up and modernised to improve customer experience, and ensure a safer and more comfortable environment for users. A customer survey identified lighting to be once of the main features that needed improvement. As a result the entire lighting system was upgraded, including the addition of new architectural lighting.

flex7 Lighting Distribution Boxes, Luminaire Leads and Double Extender Leads were used for the lighting connection. Double Extender Leads were ideal for the project because they’re designed to be used in areas where luminaires are sited in rows, such as corridors or large open plan spaces. Using an Extender Lead means that individual luminaires can easily be disconnected from the supply. The Extender Lead covers the distance between the Distribution Box, and the Luminaire meaning that the Luminaire can be wired with a short lead pre-installation.

A Double Extender Lead has the added benefit of a an extra socket at a right angle to the inline socket. The extra socket at a right angle is used to connect the local luminaire, while the inline socket continues the circuit to the next fitting.

When using this system, any luminaire in the row can be unplugged without affecting any of the others.
