Flex7 was recently installed on an exciting new project in Harlesden which involved transforming a former Wetherspoons building into a community hub celebrating Black African Heritage.

The building was purchased by Brent Council in 2020 and allocated £3.3million for a renovation project. The multi-purpose space will be a centre for education, skills and youth development.

The new community hub includes a large multi‑use hall with a commercial kitchen, meeting rooms, office spaces, and a welcoming café area. flex7 presence controls were installed in the building to give users control over when lights are turned on in an area and when they’re deemed unnecessary. In contrast, lights will always automatically turn off once the area is vacated ensuring that they’re not left on unnecessarily in any part of the building. This simple solution is a great way of cutting down on energy costs in a building with multiple users.

A Zonelite Lighting Control Module with a Scene Set Plate was used for the hall space. The ZoneLite makes it possible to connect and control 4 groups of luminaires from a central point. It’s pre-configured with 15 on-site selectable lighting scenarios so there’s one to suit most installation requirements. The Scene Set Plate simply plugs-in using an RJ12 connection and gives the opportunity to program up to 4 independent light scenes, which can be recalled by the user at the press of a button.

Flex7 controls were networked for shared occupancy in the open plan office, which means that lights remain on as long as one of the areas within is occupied. All lights will turn off automatically once the entire space is vacated.
